Heidi Lenzo  Project Specialist

Heidi has spent her career in the education, advocacy and government sectors to raise student achievement and to equip students with the skills necessary to compete in the 21st century global economy. As a team member of Education First, she has provided key research and support for clients such as AVID, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Multi-State STEM Network, North Carolina Education Cabinet, Ohio College Access Network, Ohio Race to the Top, Seattle Public School District, Tennessee STEM Innovation Network, Texas High School Project, W. Clement and Jessie V. Stone Foundation, the Washington STEM Center and Zane State College. Heidi also supports the human resources and administrative functions of the company.

Before joining Education First Consulting, Heidi was a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) instructor for the Department of Defense STARBASE program from 2009-2010. She worked with at-risk fifth grade students and improved their knowledge and skills in the STEM disciplines through hands-on, inquiry-based, student-centered learning using state-of-the-art technology. Heidi was also the mentor coordinator of the STARBASE 2.0 after-school mentor program for at-risk sixth graders, connecting STEM military professionals, college students, teachers and students through small groups to explore goal setting, team exploration and the STEM disciplines.

Heidi served as a graduate assistant through the University of Dayton for EDvention from 2008-2009, a STEM education P-workforce consortium dedicated to accelerating STEM talent in the Dayton region. As a graduate assistant, Heidi supported the legislative and advocacy process around STEM education, participated in policy research, contributed to analysis and development activities, managed projects, and maintained member/stakeholder databases.

Heidi holds a master's degree in Educational Leadership and a bachelor's degree in Middle Childhood Education from the University of Dayton. She volunteers with the youth group at her church and lives with her husband in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
