Sionainn Marcoux  Operations Specialist

Sionainn (pronounced “Shannon”) has worked within and outside the classroom to provide students with access to high-quality education opportunities. She currently supports the human resources, financial, technological and administrative functions of the company. She has supported a range of projects for clients including the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Washington’s Highline School District, Chalkboard Project, Hawaii Department of Education and the Washington STEM Center.

Before joining Education First, Sionainn helped launch Education Pioneers, a national nonprofit organization that trains, connects and inspires a new generation of education leaders. She designed, launched and led the organization’s second and third sites in Boston and New York City, and recently served as the organization’s vice president of talent recruitment and selection.

Previously, Sionainn taught math for five years at public high schools and through an Upward Bound program in the San Francisco Bay area. After teaching, she designed math software and developed curriculum management systems for education technology companies.

Sionainn holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, a mathematics teaching credential from San Jose State University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Stanford University. She has served as treasurer and webmaster for the board of Full House Moms and Dads, and lives in Portland, OR with her twin toddlers.
