Rowan is a Project Coordinator at Ed First, where they support the Engaged Students team. They are particularly interested in the ways that race, racialization and culture impact an individual’s access to and experience in education systems. Growing up as a queer brown kid in predominantly white spaces, Rowan knows how important it is to have diverse and compassionate teachers, curriculum that engages with and contextualizes students’ unique backgrounds and experiences, and an education system which does not prioritize certain students over others.
Rowan graduated from Ithaca College with a BA in Sociology and minors in Asian American studies and Women’s and Gender studies. In their free time, they enjoy thrifting, comedy TV and contemplating their next tattoo.
