Madi Carzon She/Her

Director of Strategic Communications

As Director of Strategic Communications, Madi shares Education First’s impact through purpose-driven storytelling. Inspired by the belief that the right story can change outcomes for students and communities, Madi views communications as essential to systems change in education. She leads the firm’s communications and marketing portfolio—spanning messaging, thought leadership, social media, and public relations. Madi uses communications to help reach business development goals and ensures every narrative celebrates client success while fostering new growth and partnerships.

Madi began her career in the advocacy sector at the United Way Association of South Carolina, leading public awareness and government relations campaigns to reduce Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) throughout the Palmetto State. She later consulted on public affairs and communications efforts for nonprofits, school districts, state agencies, and philanthropic organizations across the country—including the W.K. Kellogg Foundation, the California Department of Education, Columbus City School District, and Zero to Three, among others. She specializes in translating complex practices and policies into tangible stories that encourage leaders to make informed decisions for the benefit of students and educators.

Madi holds degrees in Public Relations and Political Science with a minor in Education from the University of South Carolina. Though a Marylander at heart, she now lives in San Diego, balancing her love for yoga and hiking with a passion for the city’s culinary and live music scenes. As a passionate advocate for social justice and equity, Madi lives by the motto of her role model, the late John Lewis: “Never be afraid to make some noise, and get in good and necessary trouble.”
