Teacher Preparation Transformation Centers Learning Series: Introduction

How We're Working Together to Improve Teacher Preparation

Teachers’ jobs are becoming more complex every day. As expectations for teachers change, the way we prepare teachers for the classroom must also change. In the Teacher Preparation Transformation Centers Learning Series, we describe how five networks of teacher preparation providers, or Centers, are collaborating to address some of the biggest challenges in teacher preparation, such as how to use data to improve programming, how to define the practices of teacher educators and how to forge strong partnerships between preparation programs and the communities they serve. These Centers are working to transform the way our nation prepares teachers for the classroom. The strategies and resources in this series can be used by other teacher preparation programs—and the organizations that support them—to further their own transformation efforts.

Below you will find an Introduction Brief that describes the CoP, the Centers and their shared vision for transformation. Additional briefs will be released during the summer of 2017. These briefs will share strategies and resources related to defining practices of teacher educators, and using data to continuously improve teacher preparation programming.
