Place-based Funders Network

Overview

Funders have a long history of engaging community partners to improve educational outcomes at the local-, regional- and state-level. But a funder’s relationship to place–where and how their work shows up–matters deeply.

Since 2022, Education First has convened the Place-based Funders Network to foster peer dialogue and strategic reflection. The Network includes a diverse range of funders—from large, national foundations to state or regional philanthropies. While their individual portfolios and strategies vary, they share a core commitment to four key areas: promoting academic alignment, building regional capacity, co-designing solutions with local communities and driving measurable impact.
